Resumen

Título: Fal Conde: Carlismo y modernismo

Title: Fal Conde: Carlism and Modernism

[EN] Abstract: This article about the biography of Manuel Fal Conde, wants to enter also on the way to approach us that time. It defends the thesis the traditionalism of Fal Conde —as much of the most militant Carlism of the time were— was a modernist traditionalism, as Roger Griffin defined it —which explains its roots in time and its contribution to the antirepublican uprising—. The arrival of young upbringing urban elite educated in a apologetic tradition in Catholic thought that associates nation and religion, and the emptiness that left by secularization and the loss of the idea of the sacred around 1900, give rise in these circles —as a gesture of rebellion— the hope of a new beginning, of a new order. It is what came to represent for them the Carlism expressed by Fal Conde and Víctor Pradera. On the other hand, the first Franquism must be considered as one of many authoritarian regimes emerged in The Europe of the early twentieth century (where It can speak about a generic fascism in throughout Europe); just as Quentin Skinner considers USA France, Britain or the Gran Colombia of Bolívar, liberal. It should begin by making a history of the facts to appreciate them —or at the same time—, the ideas with which were weaving. It proposes, concomitantly, to use ordinary language, common speech —the way Benedetto Croce did it, without universals or abstractions— to elaborate the narrative, the history of that convulsive time. With this, is recovered a practical and prudent knowledge with which to comprise the particular historical moment interwar period (too upset by the use of categories of sociology and political science).

Keywords: Fal Conde, neo-Aristotelianism, modernism, traditionalism, generic fascism.
