Abstract

In only 17 years Spain lost its possessions in Northwest Africa: Ifni, Cape Juby and Spanish Sahara, finishing a presence that in some cases dates back to 1884. Due to the conflict of Ifni-Sahara (1957-1958) Spain lost Cape Juby and a part of Ifni’s province after being attacked by Morocco. Ifni’s remaining  territory was finally handed over in 1969. In 1975, the aggression was repeated again, this time by means of political intrigues rather than military actions but with the same effect: the handing over of Spanish Sahara to Morocco.
